"Computopia" doesn't
exist, any more than the perfect car exists. One which never needs servicing,
never breaks down and never crashes (no matter how badly you drive it
!)
But we can make your computer more reliable,
reduce the impact of problems when they do occur and teach users how to
recover quickly from problems.
Support costs money one way or another but it can still prove good
value. We try very hard to ensure all our customers are content
and are getting the best from their computer investment. Support is available
either on an ad hoc basis or as part of a monthly package but below are
a few quick fixes before you call. You might also like to use the technical
section on our jump page.
- Try
rebooting and actually check that all plugs are firmly pushed
in.
- Consider
what has changed since it last worked properly (new software
loaded?)
- Press
the F1 key or ask the paper clip for help with your problem (or
press START, help)
- Read
warnings carefully. "Your password might be wrong"
is not the same as your password is invalid
- To
clear a freeze - Press ctrl, alt & del together and select the "not
responding" programme to close it.
- Write
down all warning messages word for word, they mean something
to us (well, usually)
- Is
there a pattern in the fault, certain times? certain keys ? intermittant
or constant?
- Regularly
copy ALL important documents somehow, it's too late to back up
after the event. Prepare for the worst
- Correct
minor problems before they become major ones (e.g. noisy fans, corrupt
data warnings)
- Use
uninstall, don't just delete programmes, always close down don't just
switch off.
- If
you suspect a virus STOP and call us for immediate advice.
Telephone us, e-mail
us or use our "Contact us"
page to find out how we can help. See our terms and conditions for a guide
to charges.
